Welcome to our list of commonly used newsletter sponsorship terms.

Paved Terminology:

Ad Network

Paved's programmatic newsletter ad network. Paved's network features native ad placements that are dynamically inserted into newsletters depending on the attributes of the subscriber.

Advertiser / Sponsor

A company or brand that wishes to sponsor a newsletter or blog.

Booker

Booker is a smart checkout solution that simplifies direct sponsorships for newsletters. By creating a free Booker storefront, creators can sell ad placements, schedule ads, accept creative, and get paid instantly.

Creative

The copy and design elements in advertising messages to customers. The creative must be approved by both the sponsor and the publisher.

Email Marketing

The practice of building your own email list to send out brand communication. In contrast, newsletter advertising involves sponsoring another publication to advertise to its subscriber base.

Marketplace

Refers to the Paved Marketplace: the world's biggest newsletter marketplace. In other words, it's a directory where we list thousands of premium newsletters with available sponsorships.

Native Newsletter Sponsorship

A sponsorship using the same design and appearance as the newsletter.

Newsletter

The email newsletter sent by a publisher.

Newsletter CPC

This is the cost-per-click of advertising with a specific newsletter. On Paved, newsletter CPC typically ranges from $1-$5. Learn more about newsletter CPC on our platform.

Newsletter Advertising

The practice of placing contextual advertisements in newsletters and email campaigns.

Paved Account

A free account that helps brands, companies, and advertisers run email sponsorships on the Paved platform. Sign up or log in as an advertiser here.

You can also join Paved as a publisher. This account type is used by newsletter creators to monetize their content on the Paved Platform. Sign up or log in as a publisher here.

Programmatic Newsletter Ad

These are native email sponsorships that reach readers according to demographics, job titles, and interests. For example, if a nutrition retailer wants to promote its new supplement, they could advertise in multiple health & wellness newsletters at once. Profile

A publisher's Paved Marketplace homepage, containing performance data and sponsorship booking information.

Publisher

A newsletter proprietor or content creator who accepts sponsorships through Paved. Publishers are the owners of ad space while advertisers are the ones who purchase ad space.

Site

The Paved publisher's website or URL. A publisher can have multiple sites on Paved, with one Paved profile per site.

Sponsorship / Campaign

At Paved, we use these terms interchangeably to refer to a single sponsorship.

Traditional Sponsorship

Email sponsorships or dedicated emails which run on a single publication. These are available on our Marketplace.
