Ready to get your Paved ad network placement live in your HubSpot email newsletter? In this guide, we’re going to share with you the step-by-step instructions to get you there.
Before you start
Make sure you know how to set up the ad network. Read the Getting Started guide.
Navigate to the "Ad Unit Codes" step of the setup wizard in your Paved account to retrieve your header code and ad unit code.
Custom HTML email templates in HubSpot require a Marketing Hub Professional or Enterprise subscription.
Merge tags for this ESP
Paved will automatically insert the correct merge tags when you select HubSpot CRM from the ESP list in your account. For reference, the tags used are:
Email ID: {{contact.email}}
Campaign ID: {{content_id}}
How to install the header code
In your Paved account, copy the provided header code for your ad placement.
In HubSpot, go to Marketing > Files & Templates > Design Tools.
In the left sidebar, click File > New File.
Select HTML + HubL and set the template type to Email.
Enter a file name and click Create.
Paste your full email HTML into the code editor.
Locate the </head> closing tag.
Paste your Paved header code directly above the </head> tag.
Click Publish changes.
How to install the ad unit code
In your Paved account, click Copy Code to copy the ad unit code.
In the Design Manager code editor, locate the position in the email body where the ad should appear.
Paste the ad unit code at that location.
Click Publish changes.
When creating a new marketing email, go to Marketing > Email, click Create email, and select your custom template from the Custom tab.
Adding the ad to a reusable template
To avoid re-inserting the ad code with every send:
The Design Manager template functions as a reusable template.
Any email created from it will inherit the Paved ad unit code automatically.
Testing your ad placement
Use your ESP's preview to check the visual layout before sending.
⚠ Do not send a test email. Do not use test sends to verify your Paved ad. Test emails often strip or fail to populate merge tags, which will cause a broken ad request. Instead, send a real email to:
The Paved draft email address provided in your Paved account
Yourself and/or your team
Your Paved account manager (if applicable)
